The first stop on our Kangaroo Island South Coast Tour is the awesome Pennington Bay. Have your cameras ready! Then you’ll have the choice to visit either:
Raptor Domain: An environmental, educational and rehabilitation centre which provides interactive experiences with wildlife. Everyday Raptor Domain offers great free-flight displays, showcasing many of Australia’s raptors such as the majestic wedge-tail eagle. Most of the birds have been injured or orphaned and are not suitable for release. They are now amazing ambassadors for their species.
Seal Bay Conservation Park: Home to an Australian sea lion population for thousands of years, and one of the most exceptional nature-based experiences in the world. Australian sea lions are unique to South Australia and Western Australia. They are an endangered species – their total population is about 14,700. Seal Bay is the third largest colony of these magnificent creatures.
Flinders Chase National Park, where you will visit Admiral’s Arch. This is a beautiful natural rock arch sculpted by weathering and erosion from the sea over millions of years. Weirs Cove iswhere the first lighthouse keepers lived and is not only interesting from an historical perspective, but also offers spectacular coastal scenery. Remarkable Rocks is an amazing granite rock formation created over the last 450 million years.
While in the National Park, we will also go on a short nature walk to see koalas in the wild. Witness the amazing resilience of the Australian bush following the catastrophic fires in 2020.
On the way home, and depending on timing, we may visit Vivonne Bay, voted one of Australia’s best beaches, or Hanson Bay.
