Getting to Sea Dragon Lodge



Sea Dragon Lodge is readily accessible, whether arriving by plane or ferry. Being close to Penneshaw makes for easy connections with both the Kangaroo Island ferry serviceand Kangaroo Island flights into Kingscote. Unless you enjoying our all-inclusive Sea Dragon Lodge Holiday Package with tours and transfers, you will need a vehicle (4WD not necessary)whilst on the island. We generally recommend a small SUV like a RAV 4 or Dualis, but you can safely access the Lodge in a standard town car

Kangaroo Island Flights


Kangaroo Island flights take 35 minutes and fly direct from Adelaide. Regional Express - REX - operate regular morning and afternoon flights between Adelaide (ADL) and Kingscote (KGC). Rex fly from Adelaide Airport's main passenger terminal. Sea Dragon Lodge offers a private car transfer from Kingscote Airport to the lodge which takes around 55 minutes. If you are intending to hire a car, both Budget and Hertz have an office at the Airport

Sea Link Provides a daily ferry service to Kangaroo Island  and generally operates 4 to 6 times a day

Kangaroo Island Ferry and Bus Service


By road it's a pleasant two hour trip south out of Adelaide and down the scenic Fleurieu Peninsula to Cape Jervis. Then it's a 45 minute ferry trip to Penneshaw on the north-eastern end of the island. The lodge is an easy 25 minute drive from Penneshaw. Sealink operate regular bus services connecting Adelaide and Victor Harbor/Goolwa with their Kangaroo island ferry service departing from Cape Jervis. Here too, we can provide transfers from Penneshaw to the lodge.

By Car


If you intend to drive from Adelaide to Cape Jervis and take a ferry to the Island, you can make bookings with Sea Link. If driving your own vehicle from Adelaide you can either bring it across on the ferry or leave it secure parking at Cape Jervis and travel to the island as walk-on passengers. Sea Dragon Lodge provides optional transfers from Adelaide Airport or your Adelaide hotel which incorporate a half day McLaren Vale Winery Tour.

Driving Directions to Sea Dragon Lodge from the Airport

From Kingscote Airport, follow the signs to Penneshaw and turn right as you leave the airport into Arramore Road and then right intoalong Hog Bay Road. As you are approaching Browns Beach, look out for the sign to Cape Willoughby. Turn right into East West Road which is unsealed. Follow the signs to Cape Willoughby. When you reach Wilson River Road (Approx 10 kms), turn right towards Cape Willoughby. When you reach Cape Willoughby Road (another 10kms), turn right towards Cape Willoughby. About one kilometre before the lighthouse, look on the left for the Sea Dragon Lodge sign, and enter our driveway. From here it's only 500m along our private road to the lodge. If you are self-catering, you may want to call into Kingscote to do your shopping first as there are no shops near Sea Dragon Lodge

From Ferry Terminal, follow the signs to Kingscoteand head out of Penneshaw on Hog Bay Road. About 1 km from the ferry terminal you will see a large sign pointing to Cape Willoughby. Turn left into Cape Willoughby Road and follow it for 25.75km to the entrance of the Lodge. The first 10kms are paved, the last 16kms are unsealed.About one kilometre before the lighthouse, look on the left for the Sea Dragon Lodge sign, and enter our driveway. From here it's only 500m along our private road to the lodge. If you are self-catering, you may want to call into Penneshaw to do your shopping first as there are no shops near Sea Dragon Lodge.
